For Best Fitted Motorbike Suit Size
If you
would like your suit to be more relaxed in some
areas, add a bit to your measurements in that
area. This is sometimes helpful in the neck and
shoulder joint for additional comfort, and if
you’re a big guy/girl an extra inch in the thigh
can greatly help your movement, and a little
extra in the knees & calves to allow the suit to
be put on easier, and the calves to zip easily.
Or you may
need to add a little in the chest, waist, hips,
etc if you wish to be able to wear some layers
underneath.

-
Neck circumference
– Men:
Around neck, just below Adam's apple. You might
add a little herefor comfort.
-
Shoulder Width
–
Take your
finger, and find the bone on the outside of your shoulder (about
half way around your arm). Measure from the center of that bone
to the same point on the other arm. Note: If you’re very thick,
take this measurement to the widest part of your shoulders – not
necessarily where the bone stops.
-
Neck to waist:
(front)
– Measure from the hollow of your neck, to the string (top of
navel). Note: Please, please, please! Get this right! Triple
check this measurement! If it is too short, your suit WILL NOT
FIT!
-
Chest
Circumference (Male)
– Raise your
arms, and put the tape around your chest, at its largest
point. Breathe in, and then take the measurement. It
is fairly important that you’re able to breathe when riding.
4a. Bust
Circumference (Female) – Raise arms and measure around chest
with the tape passing directly over the nips. Breathe in,
and then take the measurement.
4b. Under
Bust Circumference (Female) – Around chest with the tape passing
just under the breasts. Breathe in, and then take the
measurement.
-
Waist
Circumference –
Measure
around your waist and level across your back. Note: If you are
thick through the middle, and the string is in a . . . valley
(we’ll call it), take it from the thicker point so your waist
isn’t too tight.
-
Hips
Circumference –
Measure
around the widest point of your hips and butt (typically around
the point where your hip bone can be felt).
-
Thigh
Circumference –
Measure
around the widest part of your thighs, typically
about 4 inches below your crotch. Measure both thighs in case
of one being larger, and take the larger measurement. It would
be a good idea to sit down and take this measurement, as your
thigh tends to expand when sitting.
-
Knee
Circumference
– With your knee straight, put the tape around your knee. Then
bend your knee so your leg is in your typical riding position,
allowing the tape to get longer. Take the largest
measurement.
-
Calves
Circumference
– While
flexing your muscle, measure around thickest part of calf.
Measure both calves in case of one being larger, and take the
larger measurement.
-
Ankle
Circumference
– Measure around your ankle, over the ankle bone.
-
Sleeve Joint
Circumference –
Measure
around where (tight) t-shirt sleeve joint would sit. (Note: the
sleeve joint is the seam where the sleeve attaches to the main
body of the t-shirt – aka – your armpit). Give yourself a touch
of extra room here.
-
Shoulder to
Wrist –
From top of
shoulder bone to center of wrist bone. Note: You may measure
longer or shorter here depending on where you prefer the sleeves
on your suit to end.
-
Biceps (Flexed)
Circumference
– Measure around thickest part of flexed bicep. Measure both
biceps in case of one being larger, and take the larger
measurement.
-
Elbow to Wrist
– Bend arm. Measure outside of arm from the apex of your elbow
to the wrist bone. Note: You may measure longer or shorter here
depending on where you prefer the sleeves on your suit to end.
-
Forearms
(Flexed)
Circumference - Around thickest part of flexed forearm.
Measure both forearms in case of one being larger, and take the
larger measurement.
-
Wrist
Circumference – Measure around your wrist over the wrist
bone.
-
Neck to Waist
(Back) –
From the string
tied around waist to base of neck (where the vertebrae protrudes
from spine.) If you have very thick shoulder muscles that go
higher than this point, take from the highest point. Note:
Please, please, please get this right! Triple check this
measurement! If it is too short, your suit WILL NOT FIT!
-
Neck to Ankle
(Back)
– Standing straight w/ feet together, measure from center of
ankle bone to base of neck
(where the
vertebrae protrudes from spine.) Same rules as above.
-
Waist to Ankle (Back)
– Standing
straight w/ feet together, measure from the string tied around waist to center of
ankle bone. Make sure the string is straight around the waist.
-
Crotch to Ankle
– Measure inside of leg from Crotch (measure to your
“junk”, not to the base of your leg) to center of ankle bone.
-
Knee to Ankle
– From center of knee cap, to center of ankle bone (note, don’t
wrap the tape around your leg. Either measure in front to the
level of the ankle bone, or on side to the level of the center
of the knee cap).
-
Total Height
– Pretty self explanatory. How tall are you?
-
Crotch to Knee
- Measure inside of leg from Crotch to the level of center of
knee cap,
-
Navel to Knee
– From center of navel, to center of knee cap.
-
Neck to Crotch
(Front)
– From neck in
front (same place as usual) to your crotch (where you began your
crotch to knee measurements).
Neck to Crotch
(Rear)
– From neck in
back (same place as usual) to your crotch (where you began your
crotch to knee measurements).
